something must have gone wrong during a apt update && apt upgrade…
the
/etc/apt/sources.list
suddenly… is empty.
GNU Linux Debian 11 (bullseye) default sources.list

deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ bullseye main

this only works if installed:
dpkg -l|grep apt-transport-https
ii apt-transport-https 2.2.4 all transitional package for https support
it is possible, to replace deb.debian.org with a mirror from this list, idealy in the user’s country to keep transmission costs low.
For example a possible mirror for Germany could be: ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de
