cognitive disconnectedness between governments and science: the non-sustainability mess
Let’s face it… the fossil fuel powered steam engine economy … once started… is very hard to stop or slow down.
also or because of: “Scientists working on the issue have often told me that, once upon a time, they assumed, if they did their jobs, politicians would act upon the information.”
“That, of course, hasn’t happened.” (TruthDig)
So why is it? This cognitive disconnectedness between governments and science? Is it all because of lobbyists with suite cases full of cash or in short: corruption? (it sure smells like it)
Should we go to Titan instead of Mars?
(even when it’s f****ing cold X-D, like -180C kind of cold)
https://dwaves.de/2019/11/24/titan-an-alternative-to-mars-titan-vs-earth-vs-mars-comparison-atmosphere/
“Moon and Mars look like comparatively reasonable destinations, they also have a deal-breaking problem. Neither is protected by a magnetosphere or atmosphere. Galactic Cosmic Rays, the energetic particles from distant supernovae, bombard the surfaces of the Moon and Mars, and people can’t live long-term under the assault of GCRs.” (src: getpocket.com)
how to shield the astronauts?
would it be possible to develop an artificial deadly gamma particle deflector shield, so the people on Mars can be safe?
- it could be a (Mars) geo stationary sattelite between Mars and Sun that shields off a fair radius on Mars’ surface (load’s of solar, but need to avoid to crash into objects)
- exactly what NASA is proposing: https://phys.org/news/2017-03-nasa-magnetic-shield-mars-atmosphere.html
- it could be a artificial magnetic field on the surface (if power outages are not a problem)
- actually there are other approaches and hope they will become more practical over time and hope that the combination of space agencies and governments come together and are willing to build it…new approach: Did you know that it “only” takes a 3400km cable around Mars to establish a artificial protective magnetic field around Mars, that would make Mars’ atmosphere thicken over time, without it, every new CO2 molecule would be blasted away by solar winds (and lost).https://arxiv.org/abs/2006.05546
Without fossil fuels probably even most western electricity grids would go down.
A lot of people would die of famine (especially in the cities) and other problems if fuel (oil and natural gas) supplies break down as they had in the 1973 – hence the very dominant presence of western powers in the middle east and stupid fossil fuel conflicts over Iran Iraq and Venezuela. (one barrel of Crude trades at $62 right now) and how long supplies last is hard to calculate but for sure not another 100 years – probably not even 50 years – maybe 30 or 20 years from now.
A lot of species, Iraqis and activists like Greta Thunberg might get plowed under by the merciless and stubborn fossil fuel machinery that is BigOil and car manufacturers (govs/the state is also profiting by high fuel taxes).
While alternative CO2 neutral fuels exist such as electricity generated (methanation) natural gas (CH4) + O2 as oxidizer is already used by Elon Musk’s SpaceX latest raptor rocket engines
Jeff Bezoz (Amazon) BlueOrigin with the BE-4 engine also goes for CH4 + O2 as a very clean burning rocket fuel that at the same time could be produced with renewable electricity by consuming CO2 from the atmosphere.
- Water –electrolysis-> Hydrogen (H2) + CO2 (in a reactor with catalyst) = CH4, very clean natural gas (no other gases just CH4 and O2, basically what a tree does just as a machine).

What do Astronauts and Cosmonauts miss the most when returning from space like the ISS?
- plants, trees, smell of forest
- Rain
- everything “normal”
- people
month 7 is a critical month… because space fatigue increases and performance drops.
7 years rolling on Mars – on solar power 30m per day: Curiosity snaps this Emo image
The question still is: is there even enough water (left) on Mars to form oceans? or even lakes?
“Solar wind and radiation is responsible for the disappearance of the Martian atmosphere and the transformation of Mars from a planet that could support life billions of years ago, in a cold desolate world. This was confirmed by the new results of the mission NASA’s “MAVEN” led by the University of Colorado at boulder (USA).” (auto translated from: in-space.ru)
“the erosion of Mars’ atmosphere increases significantly during solar storms” (John Grunsfeld, astronaut and awssociate administrator for the NASA Science Mission Directorate in Washington, src: https://mars.nasa.gov)
Space Twins:
what were the results of the space twin study?
- spaceflight could interrupt collagen regulation in the body
if you can not get enough space: Moonwalk 3 hour footage.
