you should remove this from your system… i guess it comes per default with Gnome3 and resembles Spotlight and Microsoft-Indexing service.

All aiming at collecting all unique files that exist on this planet.

Says:

“Is a service that runs in the background and records user activity, what websites visited, what documents edited, emails written, what conversations taken… but no passwords, keywords (HAHA! then it would e called a keylogger)”

it is logging the usage of the “empathy” messanger AND (!) what files you have on your EXTERNAL MEDIAS!

“Dan I may be way off base here, but I believe this program – zeitgeist, originated in the Ubuntu camp. I believe it is the base for their search, which then was expanded with shopping lens to include Amazon and other online entities in your search.

I believe the thought behind it is: your searching your music library for foghat, and along with that pops up deep purple and other classic rock groups – as well, Amazon offers to sell you Cheap Trick Live at Budakon

My guess of zeitgeist and Fedora, development of a desktop search engine of your own personal data. Which is hopefully contained to your management. In ubuntu, the management of zeitgeist is under System Settings > Personal – you can turn on and off various search and record functions, or turn it off all together.”
