yes painful but some companies force this user to… going the flatpak way as snapd is a catastrophe that messes too much with the system (not UNIX KISS)
su - root; # become root apt update apt install flatpak # logoff root (no one wants teams to run as root) Ctrl+D # as non-root user flatpak --user remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo flatpak --user update flatpak --user install flathub com.github.IsmaelMartinez.teams_for_linux # start flatpak run com.github.IsmaelMartinez.teams_for_linux
essentially ms teams is a website running in a program like framework
how to update it?
flatpak update
This updates all installed Flatpak applications and runtimes. Confirm the changes when prompted.
For a non-interactive update:
bash
flatpak update -y
To update only the current user’s Flatpaks:
bash
flatpak --user update
To remove unused runtimes afterward:
bash
flatpak uninstall --unused
how to remove it?
flatpak uninstall com.github.IsmaelMartinez.teams_for_linux
thanks all involved and of course note the alternatives… https://dwaves.de/2026/09/03/how-to-install-ms-teams-in-debian-13/
