let’s face it… html css and js were not developed by designers that want nice % relative layouts that look great on any device. no. the first web server was developed by a pyhsicist who builds computers out of television sets (RESPECT :D) in a physics laboratry for purely technical purposes: easy access to informations. He really did not care what font was used or if the text aliged left or right.

in 2025 this still is true: it is not simple to create html from a photoshop or hand drawing design, it needs 3x css versions: desktop, tablet, mobile and a lot of experience and fine tuning to get it just right.

so instead of starting literarily from scratch every time, most developers prefer to adapt a template also called “theme” (yes it is always required to give the same thing multiple names in order to confuse everyone)

    • 70 bucks for a wordpress theme is a lot of money
    • also wordpress while still has it’s pros because of ignoring unix kiss (keep it simple) philosophy…
    • it is definitive that there were professional photoshop designers at work here
    • and semi professional coders transfered the designs into html
    • both needs to be done nicely and is a lot of work
