in the logs of the Fritzbox 7390:
experienced a lot of high pings (to fritzbox but also 1.1.1.1) via WIFI WLAN:
- the Fritzbox 7390 was configured 2.4Ghz AutoChannel and 5Ghz AutoChannel
- what happened?
- it chose Channel6 and decided to stick with it no matter how much interference from other WIFI sources
- resulting in poor wifi performance and high pings
- strange enough when the Fritzbox detects interference on that Channel, it will switch for 10min to a different channel and then switch back to Channel6 (assuming it’s a airplane with RADAR #wtf? X-D)
- this is not a good strategy as it is constantly changing channels then (because other accesspoints in the area are the interference)
- the solution:
- manually chose a Channel that is reported to be less in use like Channel12
- AVM should do it like this: once a day scan the full spectrum for other accesspoints and chose a channel that is less in use and STICK to it for at least a week or a month before deciding to switch channels again
