according to https://w3techs.com/technologies/overview/web_server/all
apache(2 i guess) is still the dominant webserver on the internet with a market share of 50%.

according to builtwith.com it is “only” 40% market share for the apache(2) webserver.
also most sites are running newer versions of apache. apache 1 still exists – but most use apache2 (src: https://trends.builtwith.com/web%20server/Apache)
what is interesting that the number of hostnames seem to rise – not the number of active sites?
could this be due to domain name speculation?
people reserving domain names simply to sit on it and sell it to someone that might need it – some day. an ugly business in my opinion it should be forbidden by IANA.
