in order to avoid the Orwellian State (dictatorship of information and money).
Ok what is not so great the A20 CPU uses a MALI GPU for which no non-free driver exists yet.
„The situation we do not want is where a person buys some hardware
expecting certain functionality and they discover that it does not have
that functionality available to them and so they immediately go ahead
and install some nonfree firmware to make use of the coprocessor that
would otherwise be disabled and non-functional.“
so the idea is to use the A20 CPU but not the integrated GPU?
Seems like we really have to start from scratch – with a Open Hardware CPU or GPU. Holy cow.
It is exciting to see passionate free software advocates in our community working with OEMs to produce a computer hardware product capable of achieving RYF certification.
We hope that this is the first of many computing systems they are able to design and build that respect your freedom.
The Libre Tea Computer Card is built with an Allwinner A20 dual core processor configured to use the main CPU for graphics; it has 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of NAND Flash; and it will come pre-installed with Parabola GNU/Linux-libre, an FSF-endorsed fully-free operating system.“
Why We Need Free Digital Hardware Designs by RMS (despite the RMS stated fact – that you „can not download hardware“… well… then keep running your undocumented Intel Management Engine (ME) code-firmware)
